loved LOVED it so much. the title and intro promise so much, and the list delivers!! the cosy section gets what makes things cosy,, it's really not a hustle-free life filled with warmth but finding and creating it despite of the noise. i've read a couple of books and most of them are making my tbr, especially the poetry recs are so autumn-coded; while the non-fiction is urgent. this is the very opposite of everything the book community gets wrong; the escapism and dissociation of reading does not have to come at the expense of reality. 🫢🏽

Loved the recommendations! I actually bought Crying in H - mart two months ago and never got around reading it, hopefully will read it next month after I'm done with my exams. I only read the summary of the book and a few reviews in bookstagram and goodreads but your take on this book is completely different from all the reviews I've read. All of the comparatively talked about how Michelle zauner relates the H mart to her Korean identity and her mother but your one specifies on the food and the atmosphere. Now I'm more eager to read this book. <3

good luck with your exams, Subha! im glad you liked the review, i also get tired of reading the same things about memoirs, everyone reduces them to buzzwords like identity and loss but this book was so much more than thatπŸ’›

hii i *loved* this post !! i could not agree with you more, it's so annoying to keep seeing the same books by white authors recommended while books that are just as good, if not better, by authors of color get ignored and left behind. thank you for making and sharing this list even though it took a lot out of you. some of my favorites are already in here, like kiki's delivery service, crying in h-mart, eva evergreen. and most of the others were on my tbr already, i cannot wait to read them all. ALSO you're SO right, the body is a blade is one of japanese breakfast's BEST songs. i feel like we have a lot in common, i'd love to chat with you and be friends !! πŸ’•

Adding all of these to my tbr and also so real and true. I spent so long not reading indian literature simply because they didn't feature on lists like these, but ive been making an effort now and have not been dissapointed!
